26 - E. Fork of the N. Fork of the Big Wood River

7/4/12 - With Levi & Khuyen Perryman

Pretty cool hike, and I would say an excellent use of the middle part of my Independence Day.  The trail had a nice rolling quality to it, so you were always gaining elevation but didn't feel like you were climbing straight up a mountain.  There is an awesome tree that makes a nice photo opp.  When you get up to where you're about to cross the river the waterfall is impressive.  The beaver dam is pretty rad.  There is a pretty meadow.  The trail goes down to the edge of the beaver pond, but I wouldn't necessarily go too much past that unless you are planning to go up to the headwaters.  Wish we'd had time to do that, but alas, the rodeo was calling.

OH, I should mention that Oso had x infinity burrs on here when we got out of there, so if you have a long hair dog go ahead and plan some time for grooming afterward.  Infinity is not an exaggeration in this instance...
